Our trip started in the Netherlands, Germany, and Greece through Athens, now choosing which island to visit.
Greece has many islands and it’s difficult to choose among so many, but for us, it was easier, as Penha’s dream was to see the little white houses with blue doors and the sea in the photos of Greece.These are characteristic of the well-known Cycladic islands, the main ones being Mykonos and Santorini.Santorini has the most beautiful views of the sea, cliffs, and white houses, so we chose this one.You can go by plane or boat, but as the boat had better prices and is a less used means of transport, I decided to go by boat.As it is one of the most distant islands, it takes 5 to 8 hours by boat depending on the type.I chose to go with the fastest 5:30 hours.The plane takes 45 minutes, but if you count the time to arrive at the airport, check-in, etc, the difference is not much, at most 2 hours.The boat trip was very smooth and we could see several islands on the way.In addition to the comfort of being able to walk and in some cases enjoy the view from outside the boat.Located in the south of the Aegean Sea, the island was created after the massive eruption of a volcano in the 17th century BC that shaped the caldera.Santorini’s caldera offers a dramatic sea view and towering cliffs crammed with whitewashed houses.On the other side of the island are famous red and black volcanic beaches.
The island is amazing and you have to know what to expect to stay in the right place.
