Today is the day to go to Dubrovnik, our main objective.

Trip duration 4 hours – 230 km

The city of Dubrovnik, also known as the “Pearl of the Adriatic”, is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the Adriatic region.

Nowadays it is popular due to its beauty, its cultural heritage and the filming of the Game of Throne series.

Little history.

The city’s history dates back to the 7th century, when the city known as Ragusa was founded by refugees from Epidaurum (Ragusa Vecchia). It was under the protection of the Byzantine Empire and later under the sovereignty of the Republic of Venice.

The city’s prosperity was historically based on maritime trade in fabrics, salt, gold, wood and manufactured goods.

It reached a high level of development, especially during the 15th and 16th centuries, as it stood out for its wealth and diplomatic skill.

Dubrovnik remained independent until 1808 when Napoleon took power in Dalmatia.

Since then, Dubrovnik has been part of several governments, such as the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, and the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Finally, it became part of the independent Republic of Croatia in 1991.

In 1979, the city of Dubrovnik was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List in recognition of its outstanding medieval architecture and fortified old town.

Just arrived, unpacked our bags, and went to see the city.

We enter the walled city and walk through its narrow streets.

After sunset returned to the apartment.

Stradum is the large street that runs through the old town of Dubrovnik, it appears in the Walk of Penance in Season 5, Episode 10.

Minceta Tower is the highest point in Dubrovnik and has incredible views across the Old Town.

In this location was filmed the House of the Undying in Qarth in Season 2, Episode 10 , when Daenerys Targaryen searches for her dragons.

The Old Town is surrounded by a high wall. One of the most memorable scenes shot there is in the Season 3 Premiere “Valar Dohaeris” when Tyrion, Bronn and Podrick walk along the wall repairing the damage caused by the Battle of Blackwater.

The Rector’s Palace. It was shown in Season 2, Episode 6, in which Daenerys visits the Spice King’s mansion to request ships to transport his army across the Narrow Sea, but is unsuccessful.

Blackwater Bay. It is opposite Fort Lovrijenac and is called Pile Bay.

After getting to know the walled city, we walked around the city and found Copacabana beach.

A little different from our nas is worth it.
